Cincinnati vs. Virginia Tech?

Worst Orange Bowl ever.

yeah, I wouldn't put this in the top 15 of bowl games I would want to watch - let alone BCS caliber.

Don't forget Wake Forest- Virginia Tech in the OB last year

Bill- the 2008 Orange Bowl featured a 1-loss KU team beating Virginia Tech. KU was at least ranked #8 in the BCS last year. And Virginia Tech was #3 in the B/CS too.

And since both Wake Forest and Virginia Tech are ACC teams they can't have met in the Orange Bowl. You're thinking of #14 Wake Forest losing to #6 Louisville in the 2007 game.

This year features #12 Cincinnati vs. #19 Virginia Tech.

Again, if I'm running the OB, I get Janet and Justin for halftime so that people might actually watch. That or I make FOX hire Lamar Thomas to do color for the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamar_Thomas

Why does the Orange Bowl get screwed every year?

Big East, ACC in a down year, KU...it just goes on

Orange Bowl doesn't get screwed every year. It has the ACC tie-in, and the ACC champion hasn't gone to the BCS title game recently

So you have an okay ACC team. This year, the Orange Bowl is last in the rotation because it hosts the national title game.

I don't think the OB getting KU last year counts as screwed. They were fortunate to host the Jayhawks. Come on Pro...at least show some Big XII pride.

My apologies - the Orange Bowl has turned in my head into one big ACC shit-fest that has become blurred in my mind.

The 2008 OB was a joke due to the fact that Kansas was selected over Missouri. I don't want to hear from the Kansas apologists out there, so lets not relive the debate.

Va Tech was pretty good, but a loss to Matty Ice and getting stomped by LSU didn't help their reputation.

The 2007 OB was what I was thinking of. I recall tickets on StubHub for $30 for that clash of titans between Wake and the Ville.

Where the heck has Miami and FSU gone? They should be playing in this game every year.

I have pride in the Big XII, but see comments by Bill above and me in an earlier post about KU sneaking in past Mizzou. So maybe the Orange Bowl didn't get screwed, but Missouri certainly did.

And when it comes to OU and Nebraska, pride in the Big XII is trumped by common sense and dignity.

sorry - I'm just partial to Mizzou getting screwed

How did Mizzou get screwed? KU only had one loss (granted it was to Mizzou) and Mizzou got blow out twice by OU. I'm pretty sure that KU was also ranked higher in the BCS.

Besides, KU proved they belonged in the game by beating VaTech in a game that wasn't nearly as close as the score.

The only reason Mizzou had two losses is because they had earned the right to get their asses handed to them by Oklahoma in the Big XII title game. Kansas would have fared no better. Both teams were 11-1 after completing their regular scheduled seasons.

This is a perfect example of the conference title game influencing the BCS and bowl selection. Missouri got an extra game by beating the Jayhawks, but it hurt them in the end becuase they lost it.

Missouri was ranked higher in the BCS than Kansas before the bowl game.

Also, there was some behind the scene jockeying to get Oklahoma to play Va Tech in the Orange Bowl in a 3 vs 4 matchup, but that fell through.
