There hasn't been a lot of NFL talk on the blog, but this just dawned me as I'm reading about the firing of Browns GM Phil Savage and inevitable firing of Browns coach Romeo Crennel.
The Browns coaching search feels like the ND coaching search from 2004. While the Willingham firing was a surprise, there's the one candidate that's linked to the institution.
Urban Meyer was an assistant coach who loved Notre Dame. Bill Cowher played for the Browns and coached with the Browns. Everyone knows Meyer was ND's No. 1 choice. Everyone knows Cowher is the Browns' No. 1 choice.
Whatever Bill Cowher wants he's going to get. Unlike Meyer who wanted concessions ND wouldn't give.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Sorry Bloski - no Cowher for you. That would have been a big hit for you if Crennel and Weis both went at the same time.
Look on the bright side, at least you have good teams in your division and you didn't make the playoffs vs. have the worst division in the league, being in the drivers seat for the last four games and then choking.
on another good note for you - your knees are better than Charlie's
Even my Bengals finished ahead of Cleveland, thanks to that tie and a season-ending three-game winning streak as the Browns lost their final six.
Denver lost at home to Jacksonville, Miami, Oakland, and Buffalo - a game that would have clinched the division. Throw in a loss to the Chiefs and it's like a mix of the Detroit Tigers and the Mets: a team that should have a better record than they ended up with and choked at the finish line.
