Could I have found a fatter picture?
Maybe it's just me but I don't think I've ever seen a picture of somebody throwing a change-up that didn't look like they were throwing like Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds.
It fits his limp wristed throwing style.
Bill, let's check back in October 2010. This is Kevin Brown 2.0, only CC will opt out, go home to SF or Oakland and be a total badass for 2-3 years. Enjoy.
In other news, Heilman is on the Mariners now, so I can say I talked to a member of my favorite team at a party in my dorm room. Exciting.
I was reading one article about this yesterday that projected he will receive exactly two standing ovations in NYC. The first being when he walks out to the bullpen the first time and the second ovation will be when he takes the mound for the first time. After that, even if he brings a championship that's just going to be breaking even. As stated, he's not going to last the full time, he'll fold.
He'll exercise his opt-out clause after taking in the NY dough for two years and then sign with Los Angeles or San Francisco.
It's obvious he didn't want to go the New York - the offer sat for a month. When the Yankees added his opt-out clause for the first three seasons and threw in about twenty million extra, he'd have been a fool not to sign.
This signing has Randy Johnson written all over it. Spend a couple years unable to produce under the New York pressure with that massive paycheck, then leave with your tail between your legs and start producing again elsewhere.
Brown and Johnson are good examples, but remember they came to NY late in their careers, while CC is significantly younger.
This stinks like when Brown went to LA and got his private jet clause.
This move was made because the Mets have Santana and the Yankees need to counteract or they'll be hearing about passing on that trade for years.
The last time the Yankees "counteracted" an opponent's move was when they signed Kei Igawa for $40 million in response to Dice-K heading to the Red Sox. Not saying CC will be a disaster of that proportion, but its interesting to note.
